March 2, 2017 – PSFA Meeting Minutes

  1. Call to Order/Pledge of Allegiance, and Welcome. Meeting called to order at 7:36 PM. PSFA Officers in attendance: Janice Quattrocchi, Jody Sackett, Sharon Jemas, Anthony Quattrocchi, Therese Heidelberger.  26 members and 4 students in attendance.
  2. Co-President Report.  Janice Quattrocchi (2017) and Jody Sackett (2018): Jody summarized “Parent Chat” information-which immediately preceded the general meeting, where parents/students shared about selecting electives for Junior and Senior year.  Jody also gave an update on the CHS Parents’ Book Club meeting; always welcoming new members.\
  3. Approval of Feb 2, 2017 Minutes:  Co-President Jody Sackett asked for Motion to approve, Jane Matison motioned, Laura Andersen seconded. Membership voted in favor to approve.
  4. Treasurer’s Report: Therese Heidelberger. Gift Auction: DGR expenses, donations and ticket sales on track for budgeting. Aphrodite Noone motioned to approve, Laura Andersen seconded. Budget approved.
  5. CHS Student Government Association Report: Mark DiSingna:  4th annual Fashion Show scheduled for Feb 24  was a great success. 79 models and made $2600. Profits go to prom and color wars t-shirts. Valentine’s Day: 150 chocolate covered pretzels were sold. NHS Blood Drive was a success with 50 donations. Thank you. SGA is working on website, will announce when that is complete. Skills USA book donation is in full swing, one more day to collect to see which class collects the most books. “
  6. Committee Reports:
    1. Fundraising: Sharon Jemas.  Dinner and Gift Raffle (DGR) on 3/25 planning is well under way.   Ad journal deadline is extended one more week until 3/4/17. Still accepting gift cards or unwrapped gifts for baskets. There is a gift basket wrapping event scheduled this Sunday from 10-2 at Hope’s home. Parent / Student mini-golf  tournament at Monmouth Park scheduled for May 12th (more details to come).  Jody also reminded that CHS Swag remains available for purchase online; and items will be available for sale at our PSFA meetings.
    2. Enrichment/Education:  Ann Sasso –no report, class is going forward. Dania Bruneau-Catalyst Prep SAT prep boot-camp class is scheduled for March 4th and 5th- 17 students are registered.
    3. Hospitality: Lang Holtz – wanted to thank everyone for their hospitality donations.
    4. Public Relations:  Hope Raymond –No new report.
    5. Membership/Directory: No new report
    6. Alumni: Jody Sackett spoke –  Looking for a Co-Chair to work on Alumni committee with Vivien.
  7. Principal Gleason:  Acceptance letters are out for incoming Freshman. Congratulations to new students. Skills USA set for March 3rd – 7 students will be attending. Forensic trip on schedule. Register for electives on power school. Course catalog beginning to post for the next year. The catalog will be coming out this month, and will online for viewing.  Entrance Exam was administered to about 280 CHS applicants currently in 8th grade. Design Academy Open House for current high school Sophomores scheduled for Mar 8th.

  9. New Business:  Jody Sackett: New 2017-2018 positions available for PSFA officers. Lang Holtz is chair of nominating committee. Please nominate candidates by April meeting, voting will be completed during May PSFA meeting. Open positions can be found in current issue of The Communique.   10. Formal Meeting: Laura Andersen motioned to adjourn meeting, Dania Bruneau seconded. Meeting adjourned at 8:15 p.m.
