Communications High School – PSFA Meeting
June 5, 2025

Executive Board Members Present:
Patti Riddle – Co-President
Kat Hernandez – Co President
Janelle Checkett, Vice President Fundraising
Hope Pressler, Treasurer
Melissa Skrocki, Secretary

  1. Call to Order. President Patti Riddle called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm and lead the group in the Pledge of Allegiance.
  2. SGA Report –Phin Whedon introduced Shuan Ribeiro, the SGA president for 2025-2026.
    Shuan spoke about:

    1. Color Wars. Everyone is very excited for this event tomorrow!
    2. Freshman Hosted the Spring Fling Danace with a Coachcella theme. It was a great time!
    3. Senior Awards Banquet – Thank you to the PSFA for providing scholarships and your continued support.
    4. Seniors – Thank you to the PSFA for the payment of the bus for the Senior trip!
  3. Principal Report
    a. Color Wars – Everyone is very excited! Thank you to the parents and PSFA for for all of your donations and help.
    b. This has been her first full year and she is so excited to continue to working with the PSFA.
    c. Seniors will get caps and gowns and ticket info for graduation on Monday.
    d. Finals will be on Monday and Tuesday of the last week of school. Wednesday is a nice relaxing day to sign yearbooks and clean out lockers.
    e. Ms. Bonilla is so proud of the Senior class and looking forward to celebrating them!
    f. She would like to modernize the building. She is trying to add more furniture to all for more learning locations. She will be updating the senior hallway to include modular sofas and desks. They would like to purchase about 8 pieces and it would be around $12,000. She requested a donation from the PSFA for these expenditures. The PSFA voted and approved the donation.
  4. Secretary’s Report – Melissa Skrocki
    1. The May minutes were posted on the PSFA website. There was a motion to approve the minutes by Janet Schneider which was seconded by Kat Hernandez. The May minutes were approved unanimously by the PSFA.
  5. Corresponding Secretary -We received a few thank you notes from teachers for the jackets and teacher appreciation lunch.
  6. Treasurer’s Report
    a. PSFA paid for Senior Awards, as well as a $50 Amazon GC for each senior as a graduation gift, Senior Donuts, Color Wars shirts and bagels for Finals will be purchased.
  7. Vice President’s Report
    a. Beach Social will planned for September.
    b. We will be holding the Super 50/50 from the start of school through December.
    c. We have set a date for the Gift Auction at The Breakers of April 17.
  8. President’s Report
    a. The senior scholarship winners were announced.
    b. Over the summer we will work on speakers for parent chats and continue our fundraising efforts for the school.
  9. Color Wars Committee Report
    a. Tomorrow is the big day! The students have received their shirts. If volunteers need a shirt, they will be given out in the morning. Volunteers should be arrive from 7:45-8.
    b. The volunteer list has been submitted to the administration.
    c. The PSFA will pay for the t-shirts for Color Wars for each of the students and parent volunteers.
    d. Nothing Bunt Cakes will be making a dessert contribution for the day.
  10. Membership Committee Report
    a. We had a few upcoming freshman parents join and are looking to drum up new
    membership for the Fall.
  11. Communique Newsletter Report
    a. This role next year will take on PR role as well with the social media posts. Please look at the Communique!
  12. Hospitality Committee Report
    a. We have 3 members who will take over for next year, including Tara Hughes & Alisa Vandernbrouck, who were in attendance at the meeting.
    b. We will host our final bagel breakfasts of the year on June 16 and 17. We will give priority to Senior parent volunteers for this last breakfast.
    c. Senior Breakfast – Senior parents are encouraged to donate. That will be on June 13.
  13. Spirit Wear Report
    a. We are working on plans for a sale towards the end of the summer.
