September 11, 2025

Executive Board Members Present

  • Call to Order.   President Patti Riddle called the meeting to order at 7:15 pm and lead the group in the Pledge of Allegiance. 
  • SGA Report – Shawn Ribeiro
      1. Freshmen had their orientation trip to Thomson Park. Thank you to the PSFA for paying for busing. 
      2. The new schedule has gone into place.   After a week, everyone seems to have settled into it, but we are all still trying to adjust. 
      3. Next Friday is the Campfire Back to School Dance hosted by the Senior Class. 
      4. Next Friday we will host a club fair for the student.   
      5. Unofficial Clubs – This year we are settling up a process where new unofficial clubs will be reviewed for approval twice a year. 
      6. October starts our information sessions for the school and we will coordinating student ambassadors to represent the school during the info sessions.  
  • Principal Report
      1.  The school schedule has changed and this is a big adjustment.  Thank you for your patience.   The new schedule brings in new opportunities for classes, internships and capstone projects.   
      2. Regarding Semon Tov busing, the school is aware of the issues but unfortunately  we do not have any control over this company and continue to work through the issues in order to make things better for our students.   We appreciate all of the assistance from various students and families in arranging transportation while we work through this issue.   
      3. Back to School Night  will have a new format.   It will be on September 25th. Looking forward to seeing everyone! 
      4. Thank you to the PSFA for paying for busing for the orientation for Freshmen class.   
  • President’s Report – Patti Riddle
    1. If you have any PSFA questions, please reach out to us via the PSFA email.  The main office cannot answer questions regarding PSFA. 
    2.  Thank you to everyone who attended the Parent Chat today.    Andy Newbury will be speaking at the Parent Chat in November (11/13)  regarding SAT prep and the college admission process.  We are also setting up a Parent Chat on  March 12  regarding the National Honor Society.    
  • Vice President Report  – Janelle Checkett
    1. Beach Social – We will be host a beach day for all families and students on September 20 at 2pm at the Spring Lake – South Pavilion Beach.  We will have an ice cream truck and lots of beach games for the kids.   Please register.  
    2. Super 50/50 –  We have started sales of our Super 50/50 and will draw winning tickets in December.  Only 300 tickets will be sold.  Please super this fundraiser for the PSFA.   
  • Treasurer  – Hope Pressler
    1. We have had some expenses to do the beach social but were able to save some money this year with a new ice cream truck vendor.   
    2. We anticipate some additional funds through the most recent spirit wear sale and new families joining the PSFA.   
  • Secretary’s Report – Melissa Skrocki 
    1. The minutes from the June meeting were posted on the website.  A motion was made to approve the minutes and the members unanimously approved the minutes.  
  • Membership Committee  – Maryann Carr
    1. We had a few new members join and would love for more families to join.  It is a one time fee and the QR code to do so is at the front of the room.      
  • Public Relations   – Rori Davis
    1. I will be maintaining and updating the Instagram & Facebook pages regularly to keep everyone informed of upcoming events.   
    2. Please also read the Communique, the PSFA’s newsletter.  This is very helpful to stay in touch and get a look at upcoming dates and events. .  
  • Hospitality  – Tara Hughes, Kate Daily & Alisa Vanderbrouch 
    1. She is excited to get started this year.   Please consider joining our committeeWe organize bagel breakfasts for finals, food for BTSN and Color Wars.   
  • Spiritwear  – Melissa Fullowan 
    1. We just ran a spiritwear sale and earned $495  from the last sale. 
    2. We will run additional sales throughout the year and at BTSN. 
  • Color Wars – Diane Calabrese
    1. Color Wars is a huge field day for the entire school.   We work with hospitality committee to coordinate food donations.   We are looking for someone to follow and shadow Diane this year so they can chair the event for next school year.   
  • Spring Gala – Patti Riddle & Janelle Checkett 
    1. It will be held on April 17 at the Breakers in Spring Lake and the theme will be “Around the World”.  We love some volunteers who would love to shadow and be ready to take it on for next year.  There is a sign up sheet at the front to join this committee.    
  • Teacher Appreciation 
    1. We would like to take a new approach to have new things throughout the year to appreciate our teachers in addition to Teacher Appreciation Week.  We are looking for a member to chair this committee.
