Communications High School – PSFA Meeting

- SGA Report: Justin Longo
- He thanks the National Honor Society for organizing a great career day.
- They hosted the Fashion Show on March 1 and had a great turn out.
- The Freshman Class is hosting the first ever Spring Fling next Friday, March 15. Tickets will be available the week leading up to the Spring Fling. Any class who has 50% attendance or more will get points for the class.
- Spirit Week is coming up and there will be a spirit wear competition. Spirit wear will be on sale on March 13 and 14 and should be worn on March 15. There will be prizes for each of the classes for Spirit Week to be paid by the PSFA – $250 for 1st, 200 for 2nd; 150 for 3rd and 100 for 4th.
- Principal’s Report: Ms. Bonilla
- The school is organizing a Mentorship Dinner to be held on May 7. Parents are encouraged to share any contacts in the communications industry or may be interested in providing mentorship opportunities including those in video production, audio, graphic artists, marketing, etc.
- She asked parents to please remind students to keep their attendance up as we head into the last part of the year.
- She welcomes any parents to reach out with any questions or concerns.
- The school calendar has changed and the Friday before Memorial Day school will be in session due to the snow day earlier this year.
- Graduation will be on June 19th.
- Midterm Exams have been moved to Thursday 4/11 and Friday 4/12.
- Minutes: Colleen Stemetzki made a motion to approve the minutes of the PSFA meeting held on 2/1/24; seconded by Carol Brice and approved by a majority of the members present at the meeting.

- The PSFA is raising funds with the upcoming gift auction and with the driver’s education program. Finally, there has been an increase in sales of spirit wear following the acceptance of new students.

- The three microwaves that the PSFA purchased had to be returned because the microwaves were not commercial grade which is required by the district. Two new microwaves have been ordered and the price will be $700.

- Gift Auction Report

- The PSFA Gift Auction will be held on April 13 at The Breakers in Spring Lake. The PSFA is grateful for all of the amazing contributions which have been donated. Tickets are available on the CHS PSFA website will be capped at 175 tickets.

- Spirit Wear Committee Report

- Sales of spirit wear will be available leading up to Spirit Week. If anyone has additional suggestions for spirit wear to be ordered , please reach out to spiritwear@chs-psfa.org .

- We have a lot of activity around the Class of 2024 scholarship. In order to be eligible, the family of the recipient must be a member of the PSFA. 10 scholarships in the amount of $500 will be awarded. Scholarship recipients are chosen by the District.

- The PSFA will provide bagels for midterms on April 11 and 12.
- Next Meeting: The next PSFA meeting is April 11 and will be held virtually. For the balance of the year every other meeting will be held virtually.
- Open Session:
- The PSFA needs members to get involved. Opportunities include bagel breakfasts, spirit wear and fund raising.
- Parents asked that the PSDA consider planning a parent event to coordinate with dances.
