Communications High School – PSFA Meeting

- Call to Order. President Patti Riddle called the meeting to order at 7:03 pm and lead the group in the Pledge of Allegiance.
- SGA Report

- January Recap – The GSA Soiree was held and was a great success! The first set of senior capstone projects were presented in January. The Sophomores hosted the Stranger Things Snowball last week. The SGA is reviewing student proposals for new clubs.
- March 13, 2026 – The SGA will host the annual Fashion Show.
- Grant Request –
- Mr. Wooley, Kelly Matthews and Anna Claps of the Inkblot spoke about the Columbia Scholastic Press Association Conference. 10 juniors will compete to attend the conference. The NYC based conference allows students to attend seminars and meet with other student journalists. It also serves as a team building event for the leadership of Inkblot. The cost of the conference is about $2,500 and the hotel is about $2,000. The Inkblot is requesting a grant of $1,000 and will fundraise the balance. The PSFA reviewed the request and approved a grant of $1,000.
- Jennifer Baldaccini along with a senior named Drew requested a grant of $3,800 for the senior trip. The grant will go towards the bussing expenses and admission to MOMA. The PSFA review the request and approved a grant of $3,800.
- Principal’s Report – Emily Bonilla
- She was very proud of the seniors who presented their capstone projects last month.
- This Tuesday she will join 2 CHS Juniors who won an award from the Third Circuit Federal Court for producing a video. The video will be shown at every immigration naturalization ceremony in the Third Circuit.
- Congratulations to Abby Riddle for winning the Congressional App Challenge.
- Career Day will be held on February 27, 2026.
- NHS is hosting the Teacher’s Pet Game Show on February 28, 2026.
- March 17 and 18 will be the Junior testing dates.
- She is working on the classes for next year and will sharing information once it is finalized.

- Each of the teachers received a hot cocoa treat this month.
- We will be providing thank you gifts and refreshments for Career Day.
- We are nearly complete with our Spring Gift Auction gift drive and have 8 items left on the Amazon Wish List. Please consider donating.
- Vice President Report – Janelle Checkett
- The gift auction will be held on Friday, April 17 at The Breakers. Tickets will be coming out in March and we are looking forward to a successful fundraiser for the school
- Treasurer – Hope Pressler

- We’ve had income from 50/50 and spirit wear sales. We raised just over $5,000 via the 50/50 sales. We are hoping to raise additional funds via the Gift Auction.

- The minutes from the December meeting were posted on the website. A motion was made to approve the minutes and the members unanimously approved the minutes.
