Communications High School – PSFA Meeting

March 12, 2026 

 

Executive Board Members Present

  • Call to Order.   President Patti Riddle called the meeting to order at 6:36pm and lead the group in the Pledge of Allegiance. 
  • SGA Report  – Shawn Ribeiro
      1. February Recap:  The SGA went through a second round of club approvals.   SGA hosted their compatibility fundraiser.  Last week, NHS put on the Teacher’s Pet Game Show fundraiser.  
      2. Upcoming – On 3/13 SGA will be hosting the Fashion Show with 70 student models.  The theme is “A Night at the Cabaret”.  Tickets are available at lunch and at the door for $10. 
        1. Everyone is looking forward to Spring Break. 
        2. CCC multicultural festival will be hosted on April 10. 
        3. The musical, Mean Girls, will be on  April 24-25  
  • Principal’s Report – Emily Bonilla
      1. Sean Retter, Sr. competed in the Tournament of Champions for wrestling today. 
      2. NJGPA testing is next Tues (Math), Wed (ELA) and Fri (Writing) for juniors.  
      3. Graduation will be on June 22 at 4pm.  
      4. The Prom is on Thursday, May 28.  Reminder – school is in session on May 29.  This was a day that was added back to the calendar because of snow days. 
      5. Sophomore College Night will be held on April 15.   
      6. They are working on doing pull out sessions for juniors to work on college essays/writing samples, resumes and interviews. 
      7. Course requests will be coming out via Genesis next week.  
  • President’s Report – Patti Riddle 
  •  Thank you for all who donated to the gift auction.   The freshmen won the contest for donations for the gift auction.  
  • We had a few people asking about SAT tutoring.  If you are interested for your child, please let us know.   
  • Spring Gala tickets are now live for $65.  It includes a sit down dinner and a cash bar.  There are many gifts to take a chance. 
  • Hospitality
      1. They did a spread for Career Day and are planning for Color Wars.  
  • Spring Spirit Wear 
  •  We are getting ready for a new online sale, but we will likely stop doing these going forward because they haven’t had a lot of success. 
  • We also have a product available for sale at orientation and back to school.  
  • Teacher Appreciation Committee
  • We provided the teachers with pots of gold filled with rolos. 
  • Parent Chat 
  • The Director of Worriwell will come to discuss executive functioning prior to the May meeting.   
  • Vice President Report  – Janelle Checkett
  •  The gift auction will be held on Friday, April 17 at The Breakers.   Tickets will be coming out in March and we are looking forward to a successful fundraiser for the school 
  • Treasurer  – Hope Pressler
      1. The Profit and Loss Statement was available for the PSFA.   We expect that the gift auction will help with fundraising.
  • Secretary’s Report – Melissa Skrocki 
    1. The minutes from the February  meeting were posted on the website.  A motion was made to approve the minutes and the members unanimously approved the minutes.
